Minecraft Live 2026

On May 30, Mojang held Minecraft Live 2026, showcasing several upcoming features planned for future Minecraft updates. Players got their first look at a brand-new biome called the Motley Forest, new wool-based building blocks, abandoned camps, and fresh details about the next Minecraft movie.

Motley Forest

One of the biggest announcements was the Motley Forest, a colorful biome inspired by autumn landscapes. The biome features vibrant vegetation, warm seasonal colors, and unique points of interest for explorers.

Key features include:

• Naturally generated Abandoned Camps
• Poplar trees with colorful foliage
• Red Shrubs scattered throughout the biome
• Mushroom growth across the forest floor
• An atmosphere reminiscent of an autumn woodland

The biome is designed to provide a fresh exploration experience while introducing new decorative blocks and natural scenery.

Poplar Trees

The update introduces Poplar Trees, a brand-new tree type found exclusively in the Motley Forest.

Features include:

• Red, orange, and yellow leaves
• Unique tree generation
• Distinctive visual appearance
• New wood resources for building

These trees add a vibrant splash of color to the Overworld and help define the biome’s identity.

Poplar Wood Set

A complete set of Poplar Wood blocks will also become available.

Builders will gain new possibilities for creating detailed structures and decorative projects.

Red Shrub

The Red Shrub is a new decorative plant that naturally generates within the Motley Forest.

Wool Building Blocks

Minecraft is expanding building options with new wool-based block variants.

Players will be able to craft:

• Wool Slabs
• Wool Stairs

These blocks provide more flexibility for colorful builds and are also used in the generation of Abandoned Camps found within the Motley Forest.

A Minecraft Movie Squared

Mojang and Warner Bros. also revealed the title of the upcoming movie sequel: A Minecraft Movie Squared. During Minecraft Live, it was confirmed that Kirsten Dunst will portray Alex. The sequel is currently in production and is scheduled for release in 2027.
