On March 21, 2026, a new Minecraft update was officially presented. The update is expected to be released in summer 2026 as part of version 26. In this drop, players will receive several new features, world generation changes, and a brand-new mob.
Update Drops
Minecraft updates are now released in seasonal drops. Each season introduces new features and improvements.

- In autumn, they reveal updates that will arrive in winter.
This system allows new content to arrive more regularly throughout the year.
Sulfur Caves
A new underground biome type is being introduced.
Deep underground, players will be able to find new cave areas that contain sulfur-based blocks and unique terrain generation.
These caves are designed to expand underground exploration and add new environmental mechanics.
Sulfur Lakes
Inside these caves, players can discover sulfur lakes.
- The liquid inside these lakes produces visible bubbles.
- The environment around them has a distinct underground atmosphere.
Player Effect
If a player enters a sulfur lake, they will receive a nausea effect, making exploration more dangerous and challenging.
New Mob — Sulfur Slime
The update also introduces a new creature called the Sulfur Slime.
This mob has unique mechanics that interact with blocks in the world.
Main abilities:
- The slime can absorb blocks into its body.
- Players can also manually place blocks into the slime.
- To retrieve the stored blocks, players must use shears.
Special Mechanics
The Sulfur Slime changes its behavior depending on the block inside it.
Examples:
- If the slime absorbs ice, it becomes very slippery when knocked back.
- If it absorbs an iron block, it becomes heavier and moves a shorter distance when hit.
These mechanics create new gameplay possibilities and interactions with the environment.
